GERALD GENTY

GERALD GENTY
LE PLUS GRAND CHANTEUR DE TOUT L'ETANG (2006)
320 KBPS

This second (4th with his two autoproduced releases) album by Gérald Genty will not disappoint those who liked his first, Humble Héros (2004). Here, you'll find more funny wordplay, light-hearted melodies and imaginative arrangements than in any other French album released in the past ten years.
Clearly influenced by Bobby Lapointe, Richard Gotainer or the Belgian duet Sttellla, Gérald possesses, nevertheless, his own personality displayed in those 14 quality compositions. His candid voice, simple arrangements and easy-to-remember melodies are the trademark of his style and help him deliver an album that could very well be named the ultimate ear-candy of 2006.
Gérald played all the instruments here, that says a lot about how talented this young man is and what a bright future is ahead of him if only the media care to take notice of this one-of-a-kind artist and allow larger audiences to be acquainted with his music and wit.
It sure helps to speak/understand French to get all the flavours of the album but the melodies alone will allow the others to discover this sweet album.
