Steffen Schleiermacher (born May 3, 1960) is a German composer, pianist, and conductor.
After studying at the Leipizig Music School with Siegfried Thiele, he continued working at this institute as a music theory and ear training assistant. At the same time, he did his post graduate studies at the Köln Music School with Aloys Kontarsky.
In 1988, together with his peers - some of them belonged to the Leipzig Stringquartet - founded the Ensemble Avantgarde, which is committed to fostering Contemporary classical music until today.
