nlf3 trio gives us, with their third album, a soundtrack to Eisenstein's 1932 silent movie "Que Viva Mexico".
This work as been commissioned by the avant-garde art foundation Fondation Cartier for a live performance supporting the movie. Though this may be labelled as post rock, nlf3 trio goes way over that simple categorization. Their music not only is the perfect soundtrack to Eisenstein's images, it also perfectly holds by itself in all its languor and tension. The Paris based formation played this piece in various festivals before deciding it was worth recording and, trust me, it is. This music is both captivating and demanding and will please those looking for post rock with electro and cinematic elements. A great catch.
