On "Double Vue", French singer/songwriter CharlElie Couture teamed up with young people so e renew his sound. Unlike most established artists who might have chosen hot new names, CharlElie dug the cyberspace and found people he thought were interesting and gave them the chance to work in a more professional way than they usually did.
The result is a mix of rock, blues and electronic music which is at first surprising but works pretty well once you get used to it. It certainly isn't what his fanbase would expect hearing which is the living proof, if anyone needed it, that he is not, and probably will never be, your typical mainstream artist. I actually never felt CharlElie was that commercial in the first place...
If you like the sound he developped in the 80s and 90s, you might be surprised with "Double Vue" but, give it a chance. It is a good album by someone who still is in touch with what's happening and willing to take risks when so many of his colleagues just do what's expected from them.
