I just love this cover artwork. Granted, the music is great too. Half Asleep is a projet of young belgian musician and singer Valérie Leclerq, together with her sister Oriane. (We are now) Seated in profile was produced by Gilles Deles.
This album can be classified as sadcore, a rather obscure subgenre that Allmusic describes as music “by and for the depressed”. I’d say this record is better suited to late autumn days and/or insomnia nights (pretty close, but slightly different). Valérie Leclerq as a great, deep voice, that gives this record a very special touch.
- we used to fear your voice (and the drilling machine)
- 1/4
- d’invisibles courtisans
- marie I & marie II
- fourteen footprints: so you changed your mind?
- micro waves
- searching the pavement
- i’m watchin’ tv / tv’s watchin’ me
- morning dust – soon
- fingers are forks
- la fin de l’inertie a pretty bee
