THE BLUETONES
RETURN TO THE LAST CHANCE SALOON (1998)
320 KBPS
The Bluetones are without doubt one of the most underrated pop band in the world. So underrated that many people don't include them in lists of underrated bands because they've never heard of them!
I bought this album in 1999, a year after it was released and I listened to it on my stereo from start to finish. It absolutely blew me away, especially the amazing 'If...', which is probably one of my all-time favourite song. The album has some other absolute gems, including: 'Solomon Bites the Worm', 'Sleazy Bed Track', '4-day Weekend', 'Jub-Jub Bird', 'Down at the Reservoir', 'Broken Starr' and the brilliant 'Ames'. But you'll struggle to find a bad song on the album, because basically, The Bluetones don't write bad songs - they just can't do it.
Anyway, buy this album and while you're buying this, get 'Expecting to Fly' and you might as well buy the superb 'Science and Nature' while you're at it. Infact, just get them all - give the band the recognition they deserve!
