Somewhere along the line, the genius of bands like Converge and Refused got co-opted by guys with eyeliner and a Motley Crue fetish. Horse the band is basically the opposite of that. Metalcore/punk-metal with 8-bit sounding synth and tongue in cheek lyrics. Awesome. The TMNT theme song cover is the capper. While the music isn't groundbreaking, from a technical perspective, you have to remember that music is more about feeling. If you want the limits of technical playing, eventually you end up with idiots like Steve Vai (who does for metal what Kenny G does for jazz). Sort of like the Vandals of metalcore... oh but they call themselves "Nintendo-core". Pretty fitting. Life is too short to whine about generic things, pizza is much more interesting.
