LEO FERRE
L'ETE 68
L'ETE 68
Released in 1969, "L'été 68", titled on different editions as "C'est Extra" (after the album hit single), is one of the most political albums from Léo Ferré though later works might appear more connected lyrically to his anarchist beliefs. Thrown like a pavement stone (one of the "weapons" used by the students against the police in May '68 events) in the post may 68 uprising. The arrangements are much more orchestral and less avantgardists than Ferré's following works as this album was composed and arranged before Léo did his very own pop revolution. Here we have "Pépée", one of the most touching songs Léo ever wrote (for the death of his female chimpanzee), but also "Les Anarchistes", "La nuit", "Madame la misère", "L'été 68", the classic "C'est Extra". A must in Léo's quality discography! A must try!
