ZOMBI

ZOMBI
SPIRIT ANIMAL (2009)
320 KBPS

ZOMBI, having previously taken cinematic synth-based rock as far as it could go, added not only guitars to Spirit Animal but a whole new attitude as well. Spirit Animal is a tour de force whose up-tempo moods, patented psychedelic poly-rhythms and bouncing, lush interplay between men and machines ushers in a scintillating new era for the band. With an outpouring of genuine emotion and melody, Spirit Animal gives instrumental music the punch in the gut it needed by blending a genuine sense of warmth and emotion with the darkness the band is heralded for.
A serious contender for the album of the year award, no less.

1. Spirit Animal
2. Spirt Warrior
3. Earthly Powers
4. Cosmic Powers
5. Through Time

la pochette représente le même éléphant que celui qui est dessiné sur la pochette de "armed forces" d'Elvis Costello...mais c'est vraiment pas la même musique.

A truly great album! It always makes me happy when I see a blog posting Zombi as they are one of the greatest bands of the C21st and each release has seen them grow and grow in complexity and refinement...the Rush analogy is pretty spot on and from now on I think I am going to describe them as "Imagine Rush & Goblin stuck in an elevator together!"...I think that would be pretty spot on!

Also if anyone is new to Zombi, its well worth checking out Steve Moore's solo material under his own name and as 'Lovelock'...Maserati are another band in the Zombi mould (the "Split" album where they both did a side each is astonishingly good.

Anyway, much applause for this post! I think one day very soon they are going to explode big time, a band this good cannot be kept down!
