Third of their four albums, Emergency & I is the maturity album for The Dismemberment Plan. A band some defined as math pop (aka technical and quirky as math rock can be but focused on the song format unlike other math rock bands). Imagine a music both powerful and melodic that has a sense of humor and killer compositions! This band should have been huge but never did. Why? Party because they were signed to a small Washington DC label (De Soto, founded by Jawbox's Kim Coletta) but also because they were ahead of their time. Beautifully arranged and produced (thanks to J Robbins also from Jawbox but also a known producer of the DC scene with Faraquet, Oswego, etc... And founder of the great Burning Airlines formation), Emergency & I is a must hear then a must buy!
