After many years travelling the world, mostly Africa (especially Kenya), he started penning some naive, minimalistic ditties.
His sketchy, intimate sound sometimes mixes African rhythms with reggae, and his influences such as the Dutch singer Dick Annegarn, with whom he toured in 1997.

thanks for your educational posts on the French chanson - of the past and present. only a while ago, i just wanted to ask you for some more Jacques Dutronc, as his proto-punk 1966 LP was absolutely mindblowing, and ta-da! are there any chances for anything from Stella, as well as Elli+Jacno?
greetings from Poland - Darek
Can't thank you enough for this wonderful blog - I'm a great follower of French pop but as an American who doesn't travel much, my exposure to music outside of the label mainstreams is limited. I've got an enormous and wide-ranging collection, and am familiar with and follow most of the artists you share here. Boogaerts, however is an entirely new name for me - I'm so glad I gave it a listen. Wonderful, perky stuff, playful and clever.
