WILLIAM ORBIT
PIECES IN A MODERN STYLE (2000)
320 KBPS
The goal of this album was not, as many appear to think, to improve somehow on the pieces being presented. It is simply to present pieces in a different context than they are used to being heard.William Orbit has created a subtle and delicate album of great electronic music, but it's certianly not for everybody. I'd understand those purists or those interested in straight dance music not enjoying this album because of it's slow and simple arrangements, but for those who have an open mind and who really want to listen, this is a terrific album. There are a couple of pieces that fall flat, most notably "Pavane For a Dead Princess," which comes across as simply cheesy, but by and large a very beautiful album. A must-have for anyone who enjoys subtle and airy electronic music.
