YVES SIMON
INTEMPESTIVES (1999)
320KBPS
When the subtile of poetry mixes with sounds from the Orient and trip hop, one rediscovers what a great artist and singer Yves Simon is. Closing with this album a ten years withdrawal from thye music scene (time he spent forging himself a name in the harsh world of French litterature), Intempestives proves modernism is not only for youngsters. Still very much in contact with the modern world Yves writes about modern pain (of afghan women in Les Souffrantes, of ghetto life in Des Cités Des Pleurs) or creates new mythologies (Sarah Et Tobie), give hommage to great writer or painter (Basquiat, Je Me Souviens clearly inspired by Georges Perec eponymous work). Strings here and there enlighten the modern parti-pris of the production (La Seconde Mort de Werther). A beautiful cohesive album by a hardly typical french singer and makes us hope for a follower that hasn't came yet....
