PADDY MILNER
WALKING ON EGGSHELLS
WALKING ON EGGSHELLS
From the soaring guitar intro and instantly big, up-front production, Paddy Milner's debut album lets you know it means business. Singer-pianist Milner appears to have drawn on influences as varied as ELO-type vocals, Steely Dan (minus the sardonic edge), the razzy horns of '70s pop, and even a hint of Madness, in this slick, superconfident recording that could be labeled as a jazzy Ben Folds. He's an accomplished pianist with plenty of blues riffs up his sleeve and a very convincing vocalist. A clever take on Brubeck's 'Unsquare Dance' nestles amid strong, catchy songwriting. Milner has emerged fully formed.
