Luminous -if not easy- melodies, clever and emotional lyrics, superb lo-fi production and quite a nice artwork, Pedro the Lion's Control has everything a slocore-indie-pop-rock lover could expect. Contrary to their first two albums (Control was their third), the emphasis is here put on harsher electric guitars. This (quasi) one man's army (with the occasional help of other musicians) is the brainchild of Mr. David Bazan, a very talented composer that knows how to compose great songs using, most of the times, a mid-tempo and sad tone that fits his medium-ranged voice perfectly. Sadly, with its slocore parti-pris and albums released on confidential record companies, the band never managed to get the success it deserved. It's still a very enjoyable formation you really should check!
