AT THE DRIVE-IN

AT THE DRIVE-IN
IN/CASINO/OUT (1998)
320 KBPS

Originally released in 1998, re-issued with all the other ATDI albums in 2004 on its original label Fearless Records. This album is the explosive break through proving that the massive potential of this band was unquestionably for real. Though unique and something special in their own right, the first two ATDI albums, "Acrobatic Tenement" and "El Gran Orgo" show the early band still cutting it's teeth with a more familiar "punk" sound. Don't get me wrong, I own both these albums. They are awesome, and stand on their own quite well. They are a great introduction to this great band. All that being said, In/CASINO/Out shows the bands coming out as an unpredictable and progressive force. This is not typically "punk" in sound but it IS very "punk" in the ideals of smashing conventions. This Album proves the worth of ATDI's previous albums and sets the tone, with tremendous anticipation, for their forth coming releases. This album is raw power and exploding with energy. It is smashing and chaotic, and controlled beauty collectively. This is where the ATDI sound as we know it was first displayed as a whole album. Very experimental (especially for the late nineties punk/underground "scene") with almost unparalleled urgency and force.
