Third solo album of the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, To Record Only Water For Ten Days was his first album recorded when not addicted to heroin. John recorded everything on this one and, what an accomplishment! 15 songs and 40 minutes of DIY new wavey pop psychedelism without the hint of a weakness. I regularly listen to this album, in fact, I think I could never grow tired of it. I also think it demonstrates the essential role Frusciante has in the Red Hot Chili Peppers songwriting and style even if it's NOT at all a RHCP replica. I find many influences on this album including surprising ones such as Bruce Springsteen or Genesis (some keyboards theme and melodic progressions) even if the general tone of this album is kind of lo-fi. It's a masterpiece so GET IT NOW!
