MIGUEL SAMIEZ
BLUESCAPE (2005)
256 KBPS
I'm not sure if this one can be found in stores. Miguel Samiez send it himself asking me to review it and put it on my blog. As I love artists willing to share their music, I could not refuse. But what about the music I see you wondering... Lovers of Moby, Röyksopp, Vangelis or Jean-Michel Jarre will sure dig this as Miguel manages to compose a rather calm and dreamy electronica while never forgetting what music is all about: melodies. Never hard on the ears, his 2005 album, "Bluescape", is a voyage on quiet and harmonious horizons. Flirting with trip hop at times his music, if never groundbreaking, is quite the perfect companion to dreamstates. It shows Miguel, born in 1974 in Neuchâtel-Switzerland, very first musical shock was been Jean-Michel Jarre's "Oxygen". Not that he copies his model but the Jarre influence most certainly determined his liking of melodic electronica for the masses. Do not expect anything experimental here, you'd be disappointed, just let your brain follow the flow of a promising artist some would call ambient. A nice catch!
