BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
THE GHOST OF TOM JOAD (1995)
320 KBPS

Literate exercise on Steinbeck for one of Bruce's folksier albums. A gold mine from start to finish. Bruce had kind of lost his touch on his previous releases (Lucky Town and Human Touch have their moments but are not up to Springsteen's songwriting standards), maybe did he need to re-focus on what made him what he was: a working class hero. And what best to do so than take inspiration from the great Grapes of Wrath novel? Thanks to this album, I fell in love with Spingsteen music again though none of the following albums were that good. Now, some needs to instigate him to try the same experience with Steinbeck's In Dubious Battle so that the magic can operate again! Anyway, this one's pure magic so may those who haven't heard it yet enjoy it as it should.
