ERIK ARNAUD

At the first spin of this debut album, the French-speaking listener first notices Erik Arnaud's lyrics. Not exactly political, they nevertheless echo what troubles our consciences, our doubts... This young urban man sings, speaks with lucidity and frankness not every artist is capable of. This looks a bit like a diary as it refers to precise events, dates, names that create proximity with the listener. © 1998 Amerik talks to us, touches us by its sincerity.
A second spin reveals the very emotional music that serves the lyrical content of the album perfectly. Rather on the indie rock side of things, Erik Arnaud seems to be influenced by The Pixies and the likes while developing a "tenderer", softer approach than this particular kind of music usually does... A curiosity: Erik reads a short text from Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho on which his music fits perfectly with its sad and angry feel.
Not exactly the usual French chanson but its quality rocking counterpart.
