This is Daniel Balavoine's second album and it is a concept album telling the story of two brothers separated by the newly built Berlin Wall. His first album, "De Vous à Elle en Passant par Moi" (1975), didn't get any success and soon finished it short career in the sales division.
In 1976, while in Poland, he realized the harsh reality of living behind the Iron Curtain which gave him the idea for the concept of this very album. Contrary to his previous studio experience, Balavoine was granted freedom to have the team he chose for the recordings and it certainly shows in the instumental endeavours which display a rockier tone than before.
While not as successful as he expected, it certainly is a major step in Balavoine's career as it lead him to meet with Michel Berger, France's 70s hip songwriter responsible for Françoise Hardy & France Gall's hits, who will cast him in the role of Johnny Rockfort for the musical Starmania (Tycoon in its English version) he co-wrote with Canadian lyricist Luc Plamondon. And the rest is history...
So, if you want a taste of sweet 70s chanson/rock and of one of France's most revered artists, you know what to do. You're up for a nice surprise.

your blog is one of the best music blogs out there. keep up the great work :D
