KEROSENE

KEROSENE
ARRHYTHMIA (1994)
320 KBPS

Kerosene are of the kind of band that had everything but didn't succeed. Lack of chance probably and it's a shame since their only release, 1993's Arrhythmia, displayed 12 quality songs which sounded like a (at the time) modern Buzzcocks. There's close to no information to be found on the internet about this quality English band and I'm pretty sure Moodswings is the first ever blog to post their sole long play. Basically, what you're having here is good indie rock that you can singalong to, played by apt musicians and produced by none other than John Agnello (Turbonegro, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. etc.). Often compared to their countrymates Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Kerosene had a more direct approach which fits the song just right. If you want to catch up on something that could (should) have been big, a long lost indie rock gem, you know what to do.

1. Spring
2. Everybody's Icon
3. Worthless
4. Excess
5. Shame
6. Come Alive
7. My Friends
8. Everything
9. Mercy
10. So Plain
11. Joanne
12. Feeling Within

Wow! This was the first record I officially produced. I even played shitty guitar on one song. Good call dude! This record is a hidden gem. And thanks for the props!

I had this record at the time and loved it. I remember seeing them supporting Terrorvision at 'The Park' at Sheffield Uni. I invaded the stage (in a nice way!) for a bit of a stagedive and accidentally knocked some equipment over.

I ended up exchanging letters with one of the guys in the band, which was tremendously exciting for a starry eyed 15 year old. I kept the letters for years (now lost unfortunately) but I do remember him admonishing me for not respecting stage equipment and explaining why he didn't like In Utero!
