A trio of Parisian musicians walked into a bar, and out came an album of Yiddish songs. Despite Yiddish not being his primary language, singer Moshe Leiser does an excellent job of invoking the lyrics with a bit of history and a lot of passion along the way, aided by some tender violin work and a bit of oompah-pah from Gérard Barreaux's accordion. There are a number of worthwhile albums of Yiddish song on the market, but Chansons Yiddisch, Ocora's addition to the selection, is a really nice one. A tender album, full of life, but leaning more toward the memory of things past and cultures lost, it would seem. Worth your time if you're a fan Yiddish music.
