BAPTISTE TROTIGNON

BAPTISTE TROTIGNON
SOLO II (2005)
320 KBPS

With his second solo piano album, jazzman Baptiste Trotignon displays more of his extraordinary talent for creation and improvisation. Here, those who have listened to the first opus will find more of the same rhythm variations and unlikely chords. While still a first-rate composer, Trotignon decided to cover some classics to spice it up the album and, thus, you'll find very personal interpretations of The Bealtes' Julia or Elvis Presley's Love Me Tender, very nice one that is.
Overall, if Solo II does not reach the heights of Monk's solo works (but who does?) and evokes more Brad Mehldau than Thelonious, it's a very pleasant surprise and an album that will both please those who like jazz and those with a soft spot for piano. Try it.

1. Como Tu Me Voi
2. Ostea
3. Music For A While
4. Gome
5. Three For Two
6. Mmm (Marius, Mathieu, Mozart)
