Serene were a hardcore/emocore band from Sweden which released this only album on Belgian label Genet Records in 1999. It was a time when emo really stood for "emotional" rather than poppish self-centered crap as it does nowadays therefore Serene with their mixture of early Refused and modern hardcore did a music which truly had power and expressed the darkest emotions of the human soul. Two of the musicians later formed Children of Fall (Another sweet band wich, if you have a soft spot for hardcore, is worth trying... Check them on New Moodswings) which displayed more of the same powerful brand hardcore with a more punkish/rocky twist while Serene definitely had a little metal in their mix. What's so nice about this album is how melodic the guitars are while nerver downsizing the inner strength of the music.
I've been listening to this album for years and it still pleases me everytime I do. A must hear for fans of real emocore and for those who think emo is girly or something...

Thank you sooooo much for this!
wow, i've been looking for this again and again for many years now.
Only at Moodswings! ;)
i have this album, seen them live in 97 with Separation somewhere near Bremen, great show!!
You should check their two songs in their split with Separation, they were more hard core, the first one is still my favourite hard core song ever!!!
You're welcome to share the split with Seperation. I shamefully admit I didn't even know it existed.
sorry, never read the comment till now...
ok i'll upload it and send the link asap!
