Collaboration with "big names" such as Jane Birkin and Johnny Hallyday has gained Christophe Miossec a new-found respect in the business. Now associated with Joseph Racaille's partner in crime, Mathieu Ballet, Miossec finds back the energy which caracterized his early works while retaining the focus found on later albums. Those who already know Miossec will not be surprised to find his "chanson rock" made of poetic lyrics, spoken/sung vocals and nice compositions that perfectly fit the everyday-life themed songs he made a speciality of. What has changed on "Brûle is that Christophe now seems more serene, less depressed which brings an unusual light to his songs.
To sum things up, this album is recommanded to those who like Jean-Louis Murat, Serge Gainsboug or Dominique A. Not that Miossec is exactly like those but he certainly belongs to the same family of singers/songwriters.
