It's not easy to be a "son of". Well, it certainly helps starting in the business but you have great expectations from people and big shoes to fill. The easiest way to succeed is then to do something different from what your parents did and that's just what Thomas (son of Jacques Dutronc and Françoise Hardy, two of the most iconic singers of France's late 60's/early 70's) did. He chose to mix his chanson with gypsy jazz giving us something not unlike Sanseverino's works. Okay, it's not yet up to Sanseverino but he's way younger and it's his debut album so give him a break. So okay, his vocal style is sometimes quite close to that of his father but that might be the genes rather to an attempt to cash on his genitor's fame. And as "Comme un Manouche sans Guitare" is a good little debut album, one that got too much success for its own good in France if you ask me, it's still worth checking. Try it, it's fun and fresh and in the time we're living it can come in handy...
