In marsh of 2008, during a weekend, avant-garde guitarist Noël Akchoté improvised himself director of a movie filmed at La Dynamo during Paris jazz festival Banlieues Bleues. For the occasion, Akchoté gathered a unusual bunch of musical misfits: Red, Laetitia Shériff, Kevin Blechdom, Otto Lechner, Brad Jones, Sebastian Reier, and a few others with the goal to build a demented project around John Giorno's spoken word. The result is raw, crazy, unlike anything I've ever heard. Here you have reworked version of classic (Marvin Gaye's Inner City Blues, Léo Ferré's C'est Extra, Daniel Johnston's True Love Will Find You in the End) along with improvisations and sonic experimentations. Any good? Sure it is! Easy listening? Hell no, but always funny and interesting.
Be curious, try it.
